Empowering Wonder Woman 1984 Opening Scene Debuts Online

Young Princess Diana competes with other Amazons in breathtaking Wonder Woman 1984 opening scene.

Even though Wonder Woman 1984’s Christmas day American release is still more than a week away, HBO Max has gifted us the highly-anticipated film’s opening scene on social media. And it’s stunning!

HBO Max’s tweeted this week “journey to Themyscira and see young Diana in action in this exclusive first look at the opening scene, in theaters and on HBO Max December 25.” The clip is about three and a half minutes long and gives us a peek at the younger Princess Diana, played by the darling Lilly Aspell. The DC Extended Universe film is currently certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the mid-1980s and finds Gal Gadot’s Diana facing Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah and Pedro Pascal’s Donald Trump-like Maxwell Lord, two classic Wonder Woman villains, against the backdrop of the Cold War. Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor, presumed dead after the event of the first film, in a mysterious plot twist that reportedly rekindles his romance with Diana. Their chemistry is still off the chain, according to early reviews.

Warner Bros. recently announced the film would have a Christmas theatrical release date and debut on the fledgling streaming service HBO Max after numerous postponements, some of which were Covid19 related.

The movie’s synopsis reads: As an archaeologist, Diana who works at the Smithsonian Museum is a Wonder Woman who has extraordinary superpowers, said to be the strongest hero in the world. In 1984, Wonder Woman is in desperate deadly danger in face of an enormous conspiracy of the businessman Max, who sings loudly to fulfill people’s desires, and a mysterious foe, Cheetah. Can Wonder Woman stop the world’s collapse alone?
