Deadline has revived the early summer rumor that Lynda Carter will appear as some version of Wonder Woman in the CW’s epic five night Crisis on Infinite Earths event.

Along with Superman Returns star Brandon Routh returning as Superman and famed Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy appearing as an older Bruce Wayne, Burt Ward, who played Robin in the Batman 1960s’ television series, is also on board. Late last week it was also confirmed Ashley Scott will also make an appearance as Huntress, along with Tom Welling and Erica Durance reprising their Smallville roles as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively.

In an article last week explaining why why Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum passed on making another appearance as Superman villain Lex Luthor, the entertainment magazine reported “…Lynda Carter (who portrayed an alien disguised as an American politician on two seasons of Supergirlalso might return as some version of Wonder Woman, the character that that gave Carter an iconic career success in the 1970s.”

Another turn at the Amazon princess would make sense for the CW, who are mining the archives of live action DC properties for cameos. With both Chris Reeve and Adam West gone, Carter is arguably the most famous surviving actor to portray a DC hero prior to the current DCEU.

Neither Carter nor the CW have confirmed or denied this.
