Walking Dead Officially Announces Female-led Spin-off Series

The Walking Dead universe’s third series is going global now that AMC Studios has closed deals in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Airing in 2020, the third installment of the franchise will feature two young female leads and show events of the first generation to come-of-age in the zombie apocalypse. According to Deadline, “some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.”

Currently without a title, Producer Robert Kirkman jokingly has suggested, “Look Who’s Walking.” The series starts in the Midwest, a geographic part of the Walking Dead universe viewers haven’t yet seen. The story takes place a decade after the start of the apocalypse with events happening concurrently with the first Walking Dead show.

Of course, we’re still anxiously awaiting news of the Walking Dean Rick Grimes-centered movie.
