Green Lantern Series From Greg Berlanti Being Developed for HBO Max

In what will certainly add more fuel to rumors that DC’s streaming service will soon be gobbled up by HBO Max, Variety is reporting  Greg Berlanti is developing two DC Comics properties at the new streaming service.

Berlanti will be producing both a series adaptation of Strange Adventures as well as an adaptation of  Green Lantern. Both projects are expected to be given full-series orders.

“The announcements were made as part of WarnerMedia’s presentation on key details of HBO Max, including pricing and the launch date.” Variety published.

Strange Adventures is a super hero anthology featuring characters from the entire DC universe.  Details on the Green Lantern series weren’t revealed.

According to sources, Strange Adventures was in active development at DC Universe before being moved to HBO Max. It was announced earlier this month Stargirl, another DCU upcoming show, would move to the CW. In July,  Doom Patrol was renewed for a second season, but that season would be available to stream on both DCU and HBO Max, with Season 1 also becoming available on HBO Max upon the Season 2 premiere.

  • Oh god no. Don’t ruin this IP by giving it to Berlanti. He’ll turn it into some schlock-fest that only people who spend too much time on twitter enjoy.

    • Being that he also developed Titans and Doom Patrol for DC Universe, I actually believe this demonstrates his ability to produce properties with an eye to whichever platform’s audience. Good news in my book.

      Thanks for your input.
